About Us
Vicente's Cuban Cuisine was created to give Detroit's palette a authentic taste of Cuba! We have been around since 2005, and don't plan on going anywhere. Our recipes have been handed down through generations of the Vazquez family, as well as a few additions from our amazing Chilean Chef Roberto Caceres. We are located right down in the heart of Detroit right off of Library St right next to the YMCA. Even through this trying times we have never wavier nor skimped on our ingredients to continue to bring you the most authentic Cuban cuisine. So enjoy and Vive Cuba!
Vicente Vazquez
Owner / Creator
Vicente dreamed, as a child, to be able to press Cuban sandwiches and work in a restaurant. Well as he grew he realized that he would rather own a restaurant then to just work in one. And since his life had lead him to Detroit, he decided that this was where he wanted to fulfill his dream.
Maria Vazquez
Front-End Manager / Daytime Operator
Once she had found out her son was going to open a restaurant, she decided to help by bringing her authentic Cuban recipes to the menu. She was originally the chef as the restaurant first opened, but is now working the first of the restaurant to make sure everyone is getting the best quality of service possible.
Chef Roberto Caceres
Head Chef
A lot of people ask how a Chilean who learned how to cook in Spain and worked in Scotland could be able to cook Cuban food in Michigan? Very simple, he's just that good! He has always wanted to work in the restaurant business since he was a young child. He traveled the globe absorbing different cultures and life from areas like Chile, Spain, Scotland, Argentina and Brazil. In Barcelona he attended a culinary school then began his cooking career on a oil platform then on to a Chef on a cargo ship. He got his first real restaurant job when he came to America where he work at three of Miami's top Spanish restaurants ,El Cid, Casa Juancho and La Carreta. After 6 months of the Vincent's beginning open, they brought Chef Roberto on to learn Maria's recipes as well as bring what Spanish influenced dishes he has learn on his way.
